Thank you, MLK Jr.

In addition to the really fabulous stuff that MLK Jr. did for civil rights, I'm also pretty thankful that his birthday was declared a national holiday. Even though my company doesn't grant us the day off, a lot of our customers did have today off and the trickle-down effect meant a manageable Monday for me...practically a miracle.

I know, I know - I should dread tomorrow as a result but I'll let tomorrow deal with itself.

Instead, I was able to quit working at a reasonable-ish time tonight, spend time studying for the PMP exam, make/eat dinner, host a quick call with some folks in the Asia-Pacific region at 8pm, then study some more.

My PMP exam is scheduled for this Friday at 8am. Eeks. Right now I'm testing out well enough on practice quizzes/tests but I don't feel entirely comfortable with some of the information so I have a lot of work ahead of me this week. I'm bound and determined to sign my emails with those three little letters at the end of my name, though, so I'll git 'er done.

For those of you wondering what PMP is, it's a secret club invented by Project Managers and the rest of us are jealous and trying to gain access by memorizing the secret password. Okay, so really it's a globally-recognized, professional certification for Project Management and it requires knowledge of a vast amount of information, specialized terms and ideas.

Therefore, I'll be spending a LOT of time studying this week and very little time having fun...but it'll be worth it!

I hear you on the MLK day and the next day being like you stepped into a war zone. But we take our good days when we can get them right? I am so glad you told us what the PMP was....I was thinking it and you answered it in the next paragraph. Good Luck on Friday...Im sure you will do well. Think of it like a Project :)
